During this period Cyprus Airways carried 260,000 passengers compared to 64,000 passengers carried during the same period last year.

Cyprus Airways announced its results for June 2023, during which it carried 59,110 passengers, doubling last year's results. Last month the Cypriot carrier operated 478 scheduled flights (June '22: 280 flights) and improved its load factor by 3%. Compared to June 2019 (the most important benchmark), before the start of the pandemic, Cyprus Airways carried 44% more passengers on its scheduled flights and operated 34% more flights.

With the June results now confirmed, the airline is in a position to announce its half-yearly figures. During this period Cyprus Airways carried 260,000 passengers (scheduled and charter flights). Compared to the 64,000 passengers carried during the same period last year, Cyprus Airways increased its operations by more than 300%. During the period January-June 2019 (before the pandemic), Cyprus Airways carried 403,447 passengers.

“We are now at the height of summer and operating to 18 of our destinations for this summer. With more than 60 weekly flights to various destinations, we have made sure to offer an excellent summer schedule for our customers,” said Paul Sies, CEO of Cyprus Airways. “The heavy traffic at the airports and on the runways is a challenge in itself. Also, the use of leased capacity from the airline Nordica helped us to increase our number of flights, but this did not allow us to maintain the levels we are used to from the use of our own fleet. We apologize to everyone who was affected or experienced such a delay.

It is noted that the company welcomed last week its first two Airbus A220s during an official opening ceremony held at the private and presidential Airport, Skylink Services Ltd, led by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis.
< br />The A220 has a large and quiet cabin with the widest economy seats and the largest storage spaces for hand luggage in its class. It also exhibits impressive fuel efficiency with a 25% reduction in burn per seat and 50% less noise than the previous generation of aircraft. The aircraft also has approximately 40% less NOx emissions than industry standards.
