The events start on Friday

The King of this year's Famagusta Carnival was officially presented at a press conference held at the Paralimni Town Hall.

In a statement, the Municipality of Paralimni states that it is Dimitris Tsierkezos, known in local community and as “Pepe” who is a perennial carnivalist. This year's King's theme is Carnival Extravaganza.

The conference was held in the presence of the Mayor of Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis, the President of the Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Paralimni Tasos Vlittis, the member of the Committee Maria Moulazimis and the member of the Famagusta Carnival Committee Costas Herodotou.

All the participants in the conference invited people to actively participate in all the events of this year's Carnival.

Dimitris Tsierkezos, “also known in the local community as “Pepe”, is a hairdresser by profession and maintains his own hair salon in Paralimni. He has been involved in the Famagusta carnival since the very beginning, and has taken part in all the carnival parades, as well as the carnival events that take place every year. At the same time, he is an active member of various cultural ensembles taking part in a multitude of events.

The events begin on Friday, March 7, when the Carnival King will receive the scepter from last year's royal couple, Christianas Siopaha and Costas Florentzou. .

On Saturday, March 9, a carnival parade by sea will be held at Agia Triada Beach at 10:00 a.m. from the Sports for All program. Participants will take their SUP boards and enter the water in a carnival mood, which will be in line with the days ahead.

On Saturday 16 March at 16:00, the “Modern Children's Shadow Theater will present the children's show “Skantzis the Skantzochirakis in Karnavaloupolis” in the hall of the Paralimni Town Hall.

On March 16, the traditional evening foot parade will be held at 8:00 p.m., in the main streets of Paralimni.

All the participants together, each with the theme they choose to dress up in will spill out into the streets and dance samba and other rhythms.

The parade will end up in Paralimni Square, where it will be set up a wild party.

The carnival events culminate on Sunday, March 17 with the Famagusta provincial carnival parade which will be held along Protaras Avenue in Paralimni.
