DIPA approved a European ballot and charted a course for European elections – “We do not sacrifice the future and the perspective of the country for a few votes” says Karoyan

The session of the Political Council was held for the first time in the new conference space, which was created within the central offices of DIPA to accommodate all the needs of the Faction's operation and can accommodate up to 200 people. p>

In a particularly warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, the six nominations of DIPA-Synergasia for the upcoming elections for members of the European Parliament were unanimously approved.

It is now official, Themis Anthopoulou, Marios Eleftheriou, Marinos Cleanthos, Pantelis Poetis, Alekos Tryfonidis and Marios Charalambidis compose the proposal of the Democratic Party to our fellow citizens.

The Secretary of the Party, Mr. Antonis Rousakis, described the candidate MEPs as a very special group full of quality, with a strong personality, with morals and freshness, which has the potential and the foundations to lead DIPA to the seats of the European Parliament.

In his statement, Mr. Rousakis said that “.. For us at DIPA, June 9 is not just an election day. June 9 is proof that DIPA is here to stay. It is proof that DIPA has grown and will grow even more. It is the proof that DIPA came to offer and already offers and will continue to offer”.

The President of the Democratic Party, Mr Marios Karoyan, in his own statement, made a historical review of the electoral struggles fought by the Party until today, characterizing as heroes the candidates who had been chosen in 2019 to fight the first battle of the European elections for the DIPA.

It was a titanic effort, said Mr. Karoyan, to contrast political positions and arguments for the faction, when in front of them they had an organized situation and directed technological tools, which instead of capturing and presenting trends and perceptions of society, were used to shape these trends and guide them, which unfortunately continues to this day. “And while everyone told us that we would not exceed 0.6% in the elections, DIPA was the winner of the 2019 elections with 3.8%, which allowed it to establish itself in the political scene and participate in the National Council.”

Mr. Karoyan highlighted the need for DIPA to be represented in the European Parliament and in the political group of the European Liberal Democrats, which is the 3rd political force in Europe, since there is a gap for our country in the European Parliament. This gap has been exploited in the past and the opportunity was given to intrude positions and tendencies against our country and our national issue. However, with the inclusion of DIPA in the Liberal Democrats, the image gradually improved, the intense action and interaction of our Faction at the European level paid off, and recently we succeeded in having support, important political declarations and support from the Liberal Democrats, which we never had before .

He even added that as a Party we will aim for political positions that are meaningful and structured and will target the key problems of our fellow citizens in everyday life. In particular, he noted, that we will aim to provide solutions for the cost of energy, the cost of money (interest rates-accuracy), immigration and social issues that focus on the quality of life of our fellow citizens and some special groups, such as the disabled, people with disabilities , people with autism and others.

President Karoyan noted that the elections are important for us because as a faction we have a European profile and we were established to play a serious and regulatory role in the local party events< /strong>. We are a patriotic, responsible and assertive faction, which knows how to measure, in the midst of a political scene where, unfortunately, logic and arguments are put aside and populism and irresponsibility prevail.

We as a faction, said Mr. Karoyan, “We do not sacrifice the future and the perspective of the country for a few votes, nor do we settle for irresponsible policies and catchy slogans, which prevail at the present time. The Democratic Party does not capitulate, does not politicize with slogans, but works tirelessly, with logic and moderation, for the good of the country”.
