An amount of € 3.4 million was paid by the state in 2021 in the framework of the implementation of interest rate subsidy plans for mortgage and business loans. A total of 3,190 loans were granted through the plan for a total loan amount of € 553.6 million.

According to data from the General Accounting Office sent to the Parliament, in the context of informing the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, the majority of interest rates subsidized by the state relate to housing loans. Specifically, for mortgages the subsidy reached € 2.26 million and for business loans the subsidy was € 1.14 million.

According to the General Accounting Office, the subsidy of interest-rate loans for housing purposes was an incentive for citizens to take out mortgages, which helped to strengthen the real estate sector. Under the mortgage subsidy plan, the interest rate subsidy period is four years, from the date of the first loan disbursement and the interest rate subsidy is up to 1.5%.

In detail, from March 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, the subsidy concerned 2,745 mortgages and amounted to € 2.26 million. The initial amount of total mortgages received by banks through the plan was € 396.5 million. According to the relevant data, for the first period of implementation of the plan (1/3 / 2020-31 / 12/2020) 1,957 loans were subsidized with a total initial amount of loans of € 269.4 million. The subsidy reached € 672.1 thousand.
