A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between the Ministry and the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (INGK) and the Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine (SMIK).
According to an announcement from the Ministry, the Memorandum was signed in a special ceremony by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulidis and the General Executive Medical Director of ING, Prof. Leonidas Fylaktou, representing SMIK. Mr. Christodoulidis said during the signing ceremony that this Memorandum is part of the development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with third countries, and is expected to contribute, in particular, to the further strengthening of bilateral relations and ties between the Republic of Cyprus and the countries of the wider Middle East region.
As stated, the purpose of the Memorandum, which entered into force immediately for an initial period of two years, is to institutionalize cooperation between the Parties for the implementation of a wide range of targeted actions, such as, inter alia, the concession, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , number of scholarships to students from countries in the region in postgraduate programs of SMIK in the fields of Molecular Medicine, Medical Genetics and Neuroscience, cooperation for the development and implementation of research programs of ING / SMIK, and, the establishment and / or strengthening of science cooperation between ING and SMIK with Middle Eastern countries.
