Government: Reduction in employment due to transfer of hourly wages to OKyPY

On a monthly basis, i.e. compared to March 2023, employment in the Government increased by 0.8, with the largest increase observed in temporary personnel of the security forces.

A reduction of 2.7% or by 1,432 people was presented on an annual basis in April 2023 by government employment, which amounted to 52,498 people.

As the Statistical Service explains, this decrease is mainly due to the transfer of hourly staff from the Ministry of Health to the State Health Services Organization, which is included in the general public sector, from January 2023.

In the permanent staff there is a decrease by 719 people (-2.8%), from 26,032 to 25,313 people, while on the contrary in the temporary staff there is an increase by 893 people (4.6%) reaching 20,449 compared to 19,556 people in April 2022.

According to the Statistical Service, a decrease is observed in all categories of permanent staff, while an increase is observed in all categories of temporary staff, with the largest changes to be recorded in the permanent staff of the Public and Educational Service with a decrease of -2.9% and in the temporary staff of the Public Service, where an increase of 5.6% is recorded. Besides, the hourly staff shows a decrease of -19.3%.

On a monthly basis, i.e. compared to March 2023, employment in the Government increased by 0.8, with the largest increase observed in emergency personnel of the security forces, where an increase of 2.9% was recorded.
