Greek hero of 1974 identified – But no one lives to “wait” for him

Tαυτοποιorθηκ&epsilon ;λαδσροσδε κανεα «ειμει /></p> <p>Fifty years have passed this year since the barbaric Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 and hundreds of Greeks and Cypriot fighters remain missing to this day.</p> <p> However, as it became known from the office of the Head of Humanitarian Affairs for the Missing and Imprisoned, Anna Aristotle, the bones of another hero were identified a few days ago, through a DNA test.</p> <p>The tragedy, however, of the case is that  during the long time that has passed since the disaster in Cyprus, all the relatives of the identified Helladite have passed away. Thus, no one can receive their bones and inform the Cypriot authorities, whether they wish to be repatriated or buried in the Tomb of the Makedonitissa.</p> <p> It should also be noted that this is the first time that something has happened. such in the long process of searching for the missing.<br /> A total of 142 ELDYK officials of all ranks have been killed or are still missing since 1974. These include conscripted soldiers and even colonels.</p> <p> <strong>16 identifications this year </strong></p> <p> The Cypriot government has stepped up efforts to find remains of those missing from the invasion.
