Hooverphonic brings Belgian alternative rock to Limassol

Hooverphonic

The internationally acclaimed Belgian pop-rock band, Hooverphonic, who represented Belgium at the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in 2021, is set to perform in Limassol, Cyprus, on Friday, May 10.

Formed in 1995 in Flanders by bassist Alex Callier and guitarist Raymond Geerts, the trio is completed by the talented vocalist, Geike Arnaert.

Although initially categorized as a ‘trip-hop’ group, Hooverphonic quickly expanded their sound beyond genre boundaries, incorporating alternative, electronic, symphonic, and indie-rock elements, among others.

Arnaert, who was part of the band during its most prolific era from 1997 to 2008, returned in 2020, just before their Eurovision entry with the song ‘The Wrong Place’.

Hooverphonic’s music has been featured in TV series, advertisements, and films worldwide , and songs like ‘Mad About You’, ‘Vinegar & Salt’, ‘Eden’, and ‘Romantic’ are considered staples of Belgium’s contemporary musical heritage.
