In the post-coronavirus era, the number of people moving to and from airports is increasing
The safety of buses and public transport, the consistency of routes and respect for the needs of passengers will help change the culture and contribute the most to the effort to reduce the use of private vehicles, road traffic and emissions, said the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeadis at the press conference, during which the increase in the routes of the Kapnos Airport Shuttle Ltd company and the strengthening of its fleet with new buses were announced.
The CEO of the company Pambos Kapnos stated that the goal set by the company for the tourist season of 2023 to carry out 100 routes every day to and from both Larnaca and Paphos airports is feasible, as in the post-coronavirus era the number of people who traffic to and from the airports.
After mentioning that the beginning was difficult he said that with patience and persistence the traffic to and from the airports were convinced to change culture.
He added that the company continues to offer free parking to those who use the bus to go to the airports and additionally at the departure point in Nicosia offers the possibility to check in, print boarding passes and weigh their luggage.
He also announced that during the months of June, July and August, Kapnos Airport Shuttle offers families of more than 5 people, such as groups of more than 5 passengers from hotels, free transportation from their accommodation to the bus station.
He then mentioned that the Kapnos office in Solomou Square will be upgraded and that a new upgraded electronic system for booking and pre-paying tickets is in operation, that the company has special buses for the disabled and that it has enriched its fleet with five new modern buses to which it will add another five before the end of the year.
Mr. Kapnos also said that during the difficult three years with the coronavirus he managed to avoid staff layoffs and with the return to normalcy continues the search for new fields of innovative action.
< p>He also expressed pride that the company has made a significant contribution to reducing the traffic of private cars to and from airports, contributing to the reduction of fuel consumption and the export of foreign currency and in particular to the reduction of environmental pollution and closing his speech he noted that “planes delay the Kapnos is always on time”.
Taking the floor, the Minister of Transport noticed that Mr. Kapnos said everything a Minister of Transport wants to hear. He emphasized that safety starts from the head and underlined the necessity of frequent checks so that passengers can travel safely.
Mr. Vafiadis also mentioned that two years ago we were going through a pandemic and no one was on the streets and described as a feat the fact that the company managed to strengthen its bus fleet through these conditions.
Before the press conference, Metropolitan Tamassos Isaias performed a consecration after which he said that the bus fleet that was consecrated will be placed at the service of the people and for the benefit of the public interest will primarily transport passengers safely.
