After eight years in the position of Secretary of the Union of Municipalities of Cyprus, Christos Hatzigiagou has been on leave since the end of January and from February 1, 2022, the duties of the Secretary of the Union of Municipalities will be taken over by Michalis Socratous, according to an announcement by the Union.
As the Union of Municipalities adds in the relevant announcement, Christos Hatzigiagou is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens. He was hired by the Union of Municipalities of Cyprus in 1988, in the position of Legal Officer and Assistant Secretary. He served the Union of Municipalities as Deputy Secretary from time to time until May 2021, when he was promoted to the position of Secretary of the Union.
He adds that the dedication and zeal he showed for more than three decades in the mission of the Local Government but also in the smooth operation of the Union of Municipalities of Cyprus are an example to be imitated.
