Extreme behavior has no place in the Police, says the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Emily Giolitis, who notes that from yesterday's images she saw from the citizens' protest in the center of Nicosia, the required proportionality seems to be absent.
In a written statement, on the occasion of yesterday's events during the protest, the Minister of Justice states that from the first moment of taking office, she made it clear to the leadership of the Police that the Police must be by the side of the citizens in the exercise of its duties.

“From the images I saw it seems to be missing the required proportionality, however, this will be evident from the ongoing processes,” he says.
He also states that this morning he agreed with the Chief of Force to contact the Independent Authority for the Investigation of Complaints against the Police, in order to conduct a thorough investigation.
At the same time, he notes that he requested that a fact-finding report be prepared, in order to be informed about the guidelines given by the leadership to the members of the Force, who were present at the events on duty.
