In a special session held at the Limassol City Hall on Tuesday afternoon, the new Deputy Mayor of the city emerged after the departure of Nikos Sykas due to his election to the seats of Parliament.
The two main candidates for the position of deputy mayor of Limassol were Haris Trikkis from the municipal team of DISY and Neophytos Charalambidis from the municipal team of DIKO.
Haris Trikkis received 12 votes. Neophytos Charalambidis, on the other 15.
The new Deputy Mayor will remain in this position for a period of six months until the municipal elections, which will take place next December.
What happened in 2017
That year, due to the tie of the then two candidates, Nikos Sykas and Neophytos Charalambidis, they were led to the draw with the former winning the coveted position.

Neophytos Charalambidis was born in Limassol in 1978.
He is a lawyer, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocational Training in Law (Barrister-at-Law) and holds a Master's Degree in Law.
He was the President of NE.DI.K Limassol. He is the Chairman of the Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Limassol. He is married and has two children.
