After the successful organization of the Christmas Villages in 2021-2022 by the Ministry of Tourism, a Grant Scheme is announced for their organization in 2022-2023.
Objective of the Ministry Tourism is the Christmas Villages to become an annual institution and to recognize Cyprus as an authentic destination for winter holidays, through the offer of quality entertainment activities.
Beneficiaries will be Communities and Mountain/Akritic Municipalities. The Municipalities and Communities that will be selected to host the Christmas Villages, must meet a number of criteria and characteristics, thus ensuring the authenticity of the experience provided. Indicatively, it is stated that the participating Municipalities and Communities must, among other things, have open tourist businesses and related infrastructure at a distance of 15 km, meet at least the mandatory criteria for participation in the Colored Villages brand, operate at least ten different Christmas kiosks etc.
The maximum grant amount for each beneficiary Municipality or Community is 70,000 euros, with a maximum grant rate of 75%.
Applications will be accepted until May 31 2022.
It is noted that the Ministry of Tourism will continue to be the responsible body for the promotion of this initiative, through targeted promotional activities in Cyprus and abroad (videos, website, single logo, hosting journalists, influencers, bloggers etc).
