The Cyprus Center of the International Theater Institute (ITH) expresses deep sadness at the death of theater critic and educator Nona Moleski, noting that “her rich contribution to Cypriot theatrical creation and her valuable work in contemporary theater criticism, constitute an outstanding intellectual and artistic legacy for our culture and place”. It also expresses “sincere condolences and undivided support to the family” of the deceased.
In its announcement, the KKDITH states that Nona Moleski, “an educator and theater critic for over three decades, offered valuable work through her knowledge and critical notes, always expressing her opinions, positions and ideas with ethics and courtesy on theatrical becoming”.
She adds that acting as a “viewer of speeches”, as she preferred to be characterized, “she tirelessly and constructively contributed with her critical eye to the documentation of the contemporary theatrical expression of the place, penetrating it 'fourth wall' of the stage and opening the way for a mental dialogue between the theatrical act and the spectator”.
Also “her love for the theater, as well as for the people who serve it as actors but and they experience it as viewers, it was the motivation and springboard of her writing”.
Finally, as the KKDITH reports, Nona Moleski, “was a member of the Center, a friend and an excellent collaborator in many of its activities, with more features or the writing of an article on the Cypriot theater events of the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons, which was published by the International Theater Institute in the volume “The Theater World: 2017 Edition, an account of the 2013-2014 theater seasons, internationally ».
