President Christodoulidis rejects the whispers about promoting specific candidates for the Local Government elections, declaring that “the Presidency is not involved either in the nomination of the members of the Local Government, nor in the election of members of the European Parliament”.
“We are here, and we will do so, to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections. Nothing else. We are not involved in any case,” he notes.
In his statements to journalists, attending a debate event entitled “Young people ask”, and to a journalist's observation that there are whispers that the Presidential Office promotes specific candidates for the Local Government elections, President Christodoulidis said that “the Presidential Office does not is involved neither in the nomination of the members of the Local Government nor in the election of the members of the European Parliament.
