The Ministry of Finance will not allow the employees at RIK to remain unpaid, said the Minister of Finance Makis Keraynos. Council, Mr. Keravnos said that “Boards of Directors and General Directorates of semi-governmental organizations should, before deciding, make sure that their decisions are legally, financially and ethically substantiated.”
“On the matter of RIK , the Ministry of Finance has stated that we will not allow employees to go unpaid. The Ministry will immediately act to get their salaries”, he said.
It is recalled that the RIK trade unions, EURIK OHO – SEC, SYTYRIK OHO – SEC and SIDIKEK PEO-RIK had sent a letter on March 23, in which they characterized as impermissible for a public law organization the possibility that the March salaries would not be paid to the institution's staff due to a delay in the “submission of the budget of the RIK to the Parliament”, which ” it clearly weighs on the employer side”.
As the CYPE reports, in addition, the issue of the payment of March salaries to RIK staff is further complicated, as RIK's bank accounts have been frozen by a court order in relation to payment of damages that have been awarded in a lawsuit against the Foundation.
