The Municipality of Larnaca expresses satisfaction with the termination from today, Friday, May 5, of the Sevezo Directive, which was implemented in 2011 and concerned the area where petroleum products were stored and LPG.
In a written announcement of the Municipality it is stated that “another great goal and perennial request of the city and citizens of Larnaca has been fully achieved today.” As of today, the Sevezo Directive, which was incorporated into a series of pieces of legislation and concerned the areas where dangerous substances are stored or processed, such as oil and gas and which did not allow residential development up to a certain distance enclosed in the so-called "dangerous circles" ?, is now the past».
The Sevezo Directive, “which had been implemented since 2011, after the official announcement of the Minister of Labour, is no longer in force, with the result that the Local Plan of the Region can be implemented without obstacles.” The lifting of this Directive confirms the safety and health quality in the area and according to’ expansion of the entire city where until recently the oil and gas facilities were located.
According to the announcement, "both the movement of the oil and gas facilities, as well as the unified development of Larnaca port and marina, show the new face of the city for a humane and functional city for its citizens, welcoming for its local and foreign visitors and attractive to investors and entrepreneurship”.
It is noted that “supporters in this effort have always been united the Development Committee of the city and province of Larnaca, EVEL, ETAP, Authorities and Agencies of the city, whom the Municipality warmly thanks.
