It really smelled like Christmas in various areas of Cyprus, after the weather predicted heavy rains, a scenario that will continue in the coming days.
According to the Meteorological Service, on Christmas night the weather will be mainly cloudy at times and isolated showers may fall. Winds will be mainly northwest to northeast, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and later locally to strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough, but later in the wind it will be rough. The temperature will drop to around 7 degrees in the interior, around 11 degrees on the coast and around 4 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is likely to form later in the lee.
Tomorrow the weather will initially be partly cloudy and possible isolated rains, mainly in the mountains. Winds will be mainly northwest to northeast, moderate, 4 Beaufort and passing in the wind up to strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough and locally on the windward coasts it will be rough. The temperature will rise to around 17 degrees inland, around 18 on the coast and around 7 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow night the weather will be mostly clear. Winds will be mainly northwest to northeast, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and locally to strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough and locally upwind to rough.
On Tuesday the weather will be mostly clear. On Wednesday and Thursday, there will be temporarily increased clouds, which on Thursday may give isolated rain.
The temperature until Thursday is expected to gradually rise slightly, to fluctuate near or even slightly above the average climatic values.
