The extension of the time limit for initiating civil lawsuits against those who have been named among those responsible for the collapse of the Co-operation, will be discussed next Wednesday by the Parliamentary Legal Committee, following a proposal by the AKEL Parliamentary Group./b>
It is noted that this year is the second time that such a proposal is discussed, while when it was submitted last year before the Plenary Session of the Parliament, it was voted unanimously. As AKEL MP Aristos Damianou stated in his statements today, the proposal will be submitted in the form of urgency next Wednesday before the Legal Committee of the Parliament and next Thursday it will be taken to a vote.
Mr. Damianou explained that the AKEL Parliamentary Group re-proceeded with this proposal, since, as he said, “until today we have not seen legal measures taken by bringing lawsuits against the perpetrators of the Cooperation scandal and as is known, based on law on the statute of limitations for criminal offenses within three years of the completion of the basis of a lawsuit, within which a lawsuit must be filed “and the risk that these , is visible.
