Προσπàθειεσ&nu αοτεηεσηπυκ αισ δσο Μαιρ > The General Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Andreas Grigoriou, described the situation in relation to the fire in the Fikardos – Farmaka area as difficult, who, speaking to KYPE, said that the efforts are aimed at preventing the fire from entering in the forest of Machira.</p> <p>Mr. Grigoriou, who is in the area where the fire has been raging for a few hours, and as the responsible coordinator for the immediate activation of mechanisms to prevent and deal with fires, said that “there are enough fronts and the situation is difficult, because the fire is moving east towards the forest of Machira and the efforts are to stop the fire before it enters the forest.</p> <p>He said that the aircraft are operating using retarders and water filled from a nearby dam in the area.</p> <p> "The situation is difficult and there has been a nationwide mobilization," he said, adding that when there is no more light the flying means are expected to stop operating.</p> <p> Mr. Grigoriou noted that some houses scattered in the area have already been evacuated for precautionary reasons, adding that depending on the evolution of the situation, the corresponding decisions will be made.</p > <p> "Throughout the night the fire brigade will try to contain the fire so that it does not spread to the forest of Machira", he concluded.</p> <p> It is recalled that in his post on X the press representative of the Fire Service Andreas Kettis reported that they were operating nine aircraft, seven air tractors, a helicopter from the British Bases as well as the coordination helicopter of the National Guard.
