    AKEL's support for the requests of those with many children is timeless, said the General Secretary of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou who had a meeting with the leadership of the Pancypriot Organization of Many Children

    An announcement from AKEL states that during the meeting the President of P.O.P. Dinos Olympios analyzed the requests of the Organization, mainly the reinstatement of the 9% in the child allowance which was cut in 2013 and the reinstatement of students from large families as dependent children.

    Mr. Stefanou stated that AKEL understands fully the need to promote the specific requests made by the Organization and expects the Government to submit to the Parliament the bills concerning the relevant declarations which the Government made last October.

    In addition, he noted AKEL's long-standing support for the requests of large families and referred to the main positions of the Party as analyzed in the recent AKEL campaign “New Parents in the First Plan”.

    Among other things, he mentioned the positions of AKEL for recognition of the status of the large family also in families of five, the reinstatement of students from large families as dependent children, the extension of the mother's allowance for all large families and the need for the tariff policy for electricity and water supply to take into account the needs of those with many children.

    Mr. Stefanou also referred to the need for the tax reform to take into account the composition of the family.

    The meeting was attended by P.O.P. the President Mr. Dinos Olympios President, Mr. Argyris Argyrou Organizational Secretary and Mr. Argyris X'' Christodoulou I'' Multiple Children Office Officer. On behalf of AKEL, the General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou, Andros Kavkalias, Member of the Politburo of AKEL, Member of Parliament and President of the Labor Committee of the Parliament and Marina Savva, member of the AKEL Committee.
