Bioland Energy Group Ltd has placed a total of 34 artificial human bird nests to combat rodents in a natural way and to protect agriculture in 24 communities in Cyprus, following the relevant information of all the competent State Authorities. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program, the company installs the nests in areas where it develops photovoltaic parks, with the aim of establishing human birds there and, by extension, fighting rodents in a natural way, as opposed to the usual practice of using drugs.< /strong>
Biological control of rodents by placing artificial bird nests is the most recommended practice, as it is friendly to the environment and human health. Bioland Energy Group Ltd has installed 34 nests to date in the following Municipalities and Communities: Mazoto, Maroni, Agios Theodoros of Larnaca, Alethriko, Alaminos, Klaudia, Aradippou, Athienou, Menogeia, Anafotia, Agios Trimithias, Cheri, Marki, Anglisides, Kivisili, Geri, Agios Ioannis Maloundas, Avgorou, Achna, Xylotymbou, Pyla, Trullous, Avdellero and Potami. It also plans to install 16 more nests in other areas, in which it intends to develop parks in the near future. At the same time, Bioland Energy Group Ltd has mapped the coordinates of the nests in order to share them with the relevant government agencies for recording and monitoring purposes.
Manbirds are nocturnal birds of prey whose action benefits agriculture, as a large part of their diet consists of rodents that cause incalculable damage to crops. Through the placement of artificial nests, man-birds are assisted in finding safe and satisfactory nesting sites and in the recovery of their populations, while offering protection from rodents over an area of approximately three kilometers. It is worth noting that other species of birds can find refuge inside the artificial nests, which will also be recorded for the purposes of protection, monitoring and creating a safer environment for them.
