Cyprus / Covid19: 94-year-old dies, 2,568 new cases - At 2.95% the positive rate

The Ministry of Health announces that today, February 5, 2022 :

  • 1 death was reported from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 741.
  • 225 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 65 are in serious condition. 73.34% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.
  • 19 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in a severe condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.
  • A total of 87,025 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test method.
  • 2,568 (positivity rate: 2.95%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), bringing the total number of cases to 269,391.

The current results are detailed.

 

 

A. Deaths from COVID-19 disease:

The 1st death reported with the ultimate cause of death attributed to COVID-19 is related to:

– A woman, 94 years old, who ended up on February 4 at the Limassol General Hospital.

Thus, the total number of final causes of COVID-19 disease is 741, of which:

  • 462 men (62.3%), and
  • 279 women (37.7%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76.2 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 225 patients with COVID-19 are treated in OKYPY hospitals, of which 65 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 65 patients who are in serious condition, 29 are intubated, 4 are hospitalized in an intravenous intensive care unit and 32 in an intensive care unit.

C. Positive cases COVID -19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 87,025 diagnoses made, 5,859 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 81,166 by the antigen rapid test, 2,568 cases of COVID-19 were identified, which resulted as follows:

  • 57 cases from 3,179 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 323 cases from 2,415 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 26 cases from 265 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1,301 cases from 45,191 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 861 cases from 35,975 samples that were examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
