The President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis & nbsp; received today, at the Presidential Palace, the UN Assistant Secretary General for Europe, Central Asia and America, Mr. Miroslav Gietza, who & nbsp; informed the President that he was undertaking, on the instructions of the Secretary-General, a fact-finding mission to see how a climate could be created that would allow the resumption of talks, based on the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the terms of reference of the Secretary-General.
According to a statement by the President, during the discussion, the President of the Republic & nbsp; reiterated the firm positions of our side, including our readiness to continue our efforts, with the aim of resuming the process for resolving the Cyprus issue on the basis of a bi-zonal Mr. Bietzia informed the President of the Republic that following the instructions of the Secretary General, he undertakes an investigative mission to see how a climate could be created that would allow the resumption of talks, based on United Nations Security Council resolutions and the terms of reference of the Secretary-General.
After the meeting, which lasted about an hour and a half, Mr. Yetza told reporters that he had “a very good, productive meeting with the President and we will continue.”

“It will reiterate that the agreed solution to the Cyprus problem is the Bi-Zonal Bicommunal Federation and that the Turkish Cypriot side should abandon its unacceptable position for the existence of two states in the Cyprus. “President Anastasiadis will raise the issue of the illegal actions of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot side again with Mr. Gietzias and will ask for the reversal of what was done in Varosi”, Mr. Joseph pointed out.
