All the functions of Dubai International Airport are to be transferred, gradually over the next few years, to Al Maktoum International Airport.
“Dubai will become the world's airport, its port and the new global center” , declares Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Paul Griffiths, chief executive of Dubai Airports, said these moves are set to establish Dubai as a leading international aviation hub.
Almost 87 million passengers passed through last year on their way to various air destinations, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, while Dubai announced another record in 2023: 17.15 million visitors from abroad.
