The condition of the three patients treated at Makareio Hospital is considered stable. Regarding the five patients who are treated at the General Hospital of Nicosia, their health condition is still serious and the damage to their vision is judged as irreversible, according to information from OKYPY.

The five patients in particular lost their sight from one eye in which they had surgery.

It is recalled that the eight patients had undergone cataract surgery in a private hospital in Nicosia (in Apollonio, which is contracted with GESS) and when the infection with the strong bacterial pseudomonas occurred, they were transferred for treatment to the ophthalmology center Pantheon (both in Limassol). Then, they were transferred to Makareio Hospital in Nicosia and the most serious cases to the General Hospital of the capital.
