All flights from Manchester Airport's two main terminals have been canceled after a 'major power outage' caused widespread disruption.

According to the Hermes press office, as far as Cyprus is concerned, there is currently a delay in a TUI flight to Larnaca airport and two Jet2 and TUI flights to Paphos.

Passengers traveling through Terminals 1 and 2 have been asked to stay away after the early morning disruption affected baggage handling and security systems, the BBC reports.

An airport spokesman said all flights from those terminals were canceled “until further notice”, as long queues have formed inside the airport, the UK's largest outside London, with more than 10 outbound flights already cancelled. and inbound flights have been diverted.

Passengers flying through Terminal 3 should arrive at the airport as normal but may experience delays, while the flights of those already at the airport will be given priority as efforts continue to “address the delay”, the spokesman said.

Inbound flights are being diverted because “planes can't take off” because of limited space, making it harder to accept aircraft that would otherwise be sent elsewhere, he added.< /p>

The airport's backup power systems were activated after the main system failed, but the situation was complicated by multiple outages in the central power supply.

Airlines said problems with baggage processing meant customers could only board with one carry-on bag.
