One of the greatest football players of all time that the king of sports highlighted is no longer with us. The football legend, Pele, breathed his last defeated by the health problems he was facing.
In September 2021 the Brazilian was admitted to the hospital “Albert-Einstein” of São Paulo, where he underwent surgery to remove a tumor in the large intestine. For a few days he remained in the intensive care unit, so that his body could cope with the serious surgery. On the 13th of the month he was discharged from the intensive care unit, while on the 30th he was discharged and returned to his home, where he continued his chemotherapy treatments.
In November 2022, he was re-admitted to the hospital as the chemotherapy he was undergoing did not work. On December 3 it was announced that he had entered exclusive sedation treatment. On December 29, the daughter of the Brazilian legend announced that her father had passed away.

His legendary career
Born on October 23, 1940 in the city of Tres Corasos in the state of Minas Gerais, he left his mark on football history before he was even an adult. At 17 he was already one of the top players in the Brazilian league, which at the time was one of the best in the world. His call-up to Brazil's national team at the 1958 World Cup shaped his legend, after leading the “seleção” in the first World Cup in its history.
In a Santos shirt, he became the fear and terror of opposing goalkeepers, scoring goals non-stop. He won six Brazilian championships and as many international titles (three Intercontinental Cups and three Copa Libertadores). On November 20, 1969, in his 909th appearance in a match A’ Division of Brazil, he scored his 1,000th goal.
Pele's fame went beyond his country's borders with the national team, with which he played 92 times scoring 77 goals. He led the “seleção” three times at the top of world football, winning the World Cup also in 1962 (although he was injured very early) and 1970.
Although he announced his retirement from football in 1974, he decided to continue by signing the next year a three-year contract with the New York World.
