The data of EODY do not show that there is a confirmed case of hepatitis in children in Greece, according to sources in the Ministry of Health. We remind you that the health authorities are in a frenzy after the recent incidents in Europe and the USA.

What about the child who seemed to have symptoms?

A pediatrician reported that a child had symptoms and was immediately instructed to examine the child to see if it was the new form of hepatitis.

According to information from ERT, 10 days ago, a child presented with loud symptoms and elevated liver indicators, the child was checked, is in good health and is at home. The same information states that this is not an incident of acute hepatitis.

Earlier, the president of EODY, Theoklis Zaoutis left open the possibility of cases of acute hepatitis that strikes children abroad and in our country.

As Mr. Zaoutis said on ERT and on the show “Connections”: “We may see a case of severe hepatitis in children in our country as well. We do not have it yet. ” The president of EODY noted that most children have mild symptoms and the majority are children 3-5 years old. As he said, there are still some older children, but over 10 years old we have not seen many cases “while he noted that there are no vaccines against adenoviruses.

EODY laboratories are also ready to examine samples possible cases for the detection of adenovirus or other viruses that cause such symptoms, pointed out.
