The Hellenic Police (HEL.AS.) made 88 arrests during checks carried out in Patras on the last weekend of the Carnival, with the aim of preventing theft, drug trafficking and combating illegal trade.
The checks will continue today as well as the Traffic measures on the road network for the safe departure of visitors
In particular, according to the police, on the two days of March 16 and 17, 1,848 people were checked, of which 213 were brought to the police stations , where 88 people were finally arrested.
In more detail, 51 people were arrested for drug cases, 23 for open-air trade, since they did not have the required permit, 11 people for violating the legislation on weapons and flares, one person for theft and two more people for violating the Road Traffic Code (KOK ).
The controls, according to EL.AS., will continue today, as well as the measures of the Traffic on the road network for the safe departure of the visitors.
A traffic arrest
According to the data, 1,092 people were checked on Saturday alone, while the police also checked 650 vehicles.
In two cases, a criminal case was filed, as a 39-year-old and a 34-year-old had gone to Patras, rented houses and trafficked quantities of cocaine as well as cannabis.
Indeed one of the two was spotted while delivering drugs to two other people, while around 160 were found inside the house grams of cocaine and 20 grams of cannabis.
