A plan that exceeds € 40 million for its revitalization within the walls of Nicosia & nbsp; was presented today by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis.
Specifically, the PTA stated that the current action plan comes to complement a number of other projects, such as the completion of Freedom Square, the new Municipal Palace, the restoration of the Municipal Theater, the State Gallery of Contemporary Art, the CYENS Center of Excellence, the metapi station Solomou Square, the parking lots that have been created, the upgrade and creation of sidewalks as well as the ongoing improvement interventions in buildings and areas in the center of the Capital.

He noted that today's announcements concern Nicosia within the walls and were prepared in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding in collaboration with the parties, the Government, the Municipality of Nicosia, the Holy Archdiocese and the University of Cyprus.
The Plan Action, in addition to the educational and business aspects, is addressed to young couples such as the invitation for home ownership within the walls of Nicosia, extends the already in force special plan, to cover, beyond the length of the green line, the entire enclosed city .
He noted that the total budget of the Plan exceeds € 40 million, while the inclusion of actions amounting to € 25 million for its regeneration within the walls of Nicosia in the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, is proof of the weight given to the effort to create a model of a modern but also historic city.
In addition, he said that the city within the walls will be strengthened through other projects of the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, such as the plan to upgrade traditional catering facilities, and through expenditures for energy upgrading of buildings for which approximately € 100 million will be allocated. Of this, more than € 20m relates to energy upgrading of homes and tackling energy poverty.
In his speech, Finance Minister Konstantinos Petridis described the historic center of Nicosia as” our identity “, acknowledging how problems have been observed in recent years, due to some factors. “If we let the situation continue they will lead to the deforestation of the historic center and our identity,” he said.

€ 15 million for dormitories
At the same time, in April, a Sponsorship plan will be announced for the renovation or construction of buildings with basic use as student dormitories with the total cost set at € 15 million, with 50% being allocated to the 1st announcement.
The plan provides 75% of the total cost for conversion of existing buildings and 50% of the total cost for construction of new buildings. The minimum investment was set at € 140,000, while the maximum sponsorship amount was set at € 2 million.

On his part, the Minister of Interior Nikos Nouris , noted that Nicosia within the walls is the core of the urban center and is connected, spatially, functionally, but also symbolically with its outskirts.

So what are these new policies?

The object of the Plan is to provide incentives, in the form of government sponsorship. This Plan, which will be announced immediately from next May, will be financed with € 10 million from the state budget, with an indicative amount of € 2 million per year, or until the available amount is exhausted.
The The amount of the contribution will be 60% of the eligible cost and will cover construction works, electromechanical, studies and part of the equipment, with a maximum financial aid of € 80,000 per project.
Beneficiaries will be companies that are, either owners or tenants of buildings, with the obligation to use their renovated premises for at least five years. This Plan will be in force until the end of 2026.
In addition to the financial support provided by the Entrepreneurship Enhancement Plan, through a set of urban incentives and regulations, there are also significant opportunities for enrichment, enhancement and of the revitalization of the Center of the Center of Nicosia.

• & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; Maintaining the approved building factor in case of demolition and replacement of a non-significant old building with a use permitted by the Site Plan. & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; i. Exemption from the requirement to indicate parking spaces for new permitted developments arising from the restoration or reuse of buildings, but also new buildings in the pedestrian areas, while, & nbsp;
& nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; ii. Reduction of parking requirements up to 60% is proposed for existing buildings.
& nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; iii. Finally, always regarding the parking spaces, we reduce the purchase price by 70%, which gives a huge financial aid to those who will choose to invest.
• & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; A third and not insignificant incentive is to increase the coverage rate by 10% where and at a total restoration of a valuable building takes place when it includes, among other things, the inclusion of modern energy-saving provisions.
Note that the buildings will be classified as “remarkable” by a Four-Member Committee, which will be chaired by a representative of the Municipality of Nicosia with the participation of representatives of the Department of Urban Planning and Housing, the Department of Antiquities and ETEK.
