Precipitation has increased but remains well below normal

In 12% of normal for December, the amount of precipitation in the free areas increased due to yesterday's rainfall, with the percentage of average precipitation since October 1 (start of the hydrological year) at 82% of normal.

Indicatively, yesterday morning the rainfall of the month is limited to only 3% of the normal for the month of December.

Based on the preliminary data of the Department of Meteorology until 08:00 today, the rainfall of the last 24 hours amounted to to 9.1 millimeters (mm), with the total annual rainfall since the 1st of the month to be just 13 mm compared to 105.6 mm which is a normal amount based on historical data (1960-1990).

Since October 1 the total rainfall that fell in the free areas amounts to 157.2 millimeters, i.e. corresponding to 82% of normal, which amounts to 191.6 mm.

The highest rainfall of the last 24 hours was recorded at the station of Stavros tis Psokas with 28.2 mm followed by Paphos Airport station with 15.9 mm and Prodromos with 15.5 mm.
