As reported in the Criminal Court, the 45-year-old's defense attorney asked for time to present the facts in order to mitigate the sentence
After the amendment of the indictment from premeditated murder to homicide, with the victim being 58-year-old Ioannis Polykarpou, the 45-year-old the accused answered today an admission to the charge he is facing.
As mentioned in the Criminal Court, the defense lawyer of the 45-year-old, lawyer Alexandros Alexandrou, asked for time to report the facts in order to mitigate the sentence, while the first lawyer of the Republic Andreas Hatzikyrou did not object. The case was therefore set for further events and sentencing on April 15, 2024. The Court also ordered that the 45-year-old accused remain in custody at the Central Jail.
According to the case history, the victim was injured fatally, when he was swept away on his motorcycle by a vehicle allegedly driven by the 45-year-old. The fatal road collision occurred in the early hours of January 21, on Tafon ton Vasilei Avenue and the driver left the scene.
