Netflix-inspired is the Greek choice on the British newspaper's holiday list
Spetses is among the Guardian's 23 travel destinations for 2023.
“It is easy to understand why there is a buzz about Spetses,” reports the British newspaper, noting that in the last two years the Argosaronic island has hosted two major Hollywood productions: “The Lost Daughter” with Oscar winner Olivia Colman and, of course, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” the Netflix movie starring Daniel Craig.
The article also refers to the emblematic hotel that one can see upon arriving in Spetses and which of course also appears in Rian Johnson's film.
The picturesque island is being prepared for even more visitors in 2023, the Guardian points out. “We feel blessed to live here,” declares 74-year-old Yiannis Manitaras, who was born and raised in Spetses.
“The feel of the old era, the neoclassical architecture, the horse-drawn carriages and the absence of cars have long made the island a favorite of the Athenians. And there are still cheap places to stay”, concludes the Guardian about Spetses.
