The signatures for the anti-flood works in the major Limassol fell

The Contract for the construction of the Flood Protection Works in the Greater Limassol was signed today at the Panos Solomonidis Cultural Center in Limassol.

The Contract, worth 16.2 million Euros (plus VAT), is financed by SALA and the Government of Cyprus and was awarded to the IACOVOU – ZEMCO (SL) JOINT VENTURE Consortium.

The project includes the construction of tubular culverts 18km long, square culverts 3km long and 423 wells. The Project concerns all five Municipalities located within the boundaries of SALA.

Construction work will begin immediately and is expected to be completed in about 30 months.

The project is an important step in the planning for total flood protection of major Limassol and together with the other major projects that SALA has already started, it is expected to contribute substantially to the elimination of the flood problem in Limassol.

The Contract was signed by the President of SALA, Mayor of Limassol Nikos Nikolaidis and the representative of the Contractor Consortium George Iakovou in the presence of the city authorities, representatives of the competent government services and other public and private bodies of Limassol.
