UEFA rating: This year… is not our year

At least not in terms of finishing 15th

Βαθμολογλα UEFA: Φετος… δεν ελναι η χρονιà μας

Aris is living historic moments, competing for the first time in a European group. In fact, despite the fact that he did not manage to leave Prague with a points advantage… September 21, 2023 will be both the day he made his debut in the final phase of the Europa League, as well as the day he scored his first goals for specific institution.

From then on, however, putting all the data down, the conclusion that comes out is that this season will hardly go down in the history of Cyprus as one of its most important in terms of scoring points .

We explain, the Limassol team is our only representative in the group stage of the three UEFA competitions and therefore only they can bring us points. The truth is that apart from the fact that they started with the left, no one can dispute that the “green” group has a very high degree of difficulty. Real Betis, Rangers and Sparta Prague are clearly more experienced and therefore the “light brigade” is called upon to make enough progress to take at least third place.

Even if Aris succeeds, we should take into account that we are currently in 24th place with 21,350 and while the coveted 15th place belongs to the current phase in Norway which counts 26,875 points. It is also noted that of the nine (!) countries that separate us from 15th place, only one of them does not have a representative, while the other two have a team.

Given the quality of our opponents , the most realistic goal at the moment seems to be the conquest of 22nd place. This is because the 22nd-ranked Swedes have a team and only 150 points more than us, while the 23rd-ranked Romania was left without a representative and has only 25 points more than Cyprus.

In conclusion, yes, this year will always holds huge importance in the history books of Mars, but it will be extremely difficult to see as a season where we made a difference to the countries we compete against. A perspective that, by the way, has Greece, which counts four teams in the groups, with three of them starting victoriously.

What is now requested for our island, like last year's champions, is to collect as many points as possible, laying the foundations for more productive seasons in the coming years.
