A work-related accident occurred at 19:00 in the afternoon of Thursday, March 21 at a company in Kalochori, Thessaloniki.
A 39-year-old man, who was carrying out loading and unloading operations in an outdoor company area, died tragically.
The 39-year-old man was reportedly on a wooden base holding metal pipes. It then broke, causing him to be crushed by one of the metal pipes and fatally injured.
The macabre list in 2023 reached 147 people
The new industrial accident in Thessaloniki comes just one month after the previous one. It is then recalled that a man lost his life who fell from a great height in the area of Diavata, on the west side of the city.
The industrial accident occurred at 10:30 when, according to the first information, a man about 60 years old fell from a height of 10 meters when the place where he was working gave way.

Rapid increase in workers of accidents was recorded in 2023 in Greece with the macabre list reaching 147 people, according to the data presented by the Federation of Technical Enterprises Employees' Associations of Greece.
The corresponding number of industrial accidents in the whole of 2022 was 104, according the data presented by OSETEE. At the same time, according to ELSTAT, in 2018 the dead were 46, 51 in 2019, 41 in 2020 and 31 in 2021.
According to the announcement of the Federation, “the rapid increase in occupational accidents has alarmed the European institutions and Collective bodies in Europe”.
