About the preparation:< /strong> “We are happy here, it is ideal conditions for work to prepare for the first goal of the season. It's my first preseason in three years, I'm focused on being healthy and having a good year.”
On himself:“An athlete after a serious injury has disappointment. I was out 8-9 months, right now I feel really good about my body. Last year was a transitional year for me, the year helped me to be at a good level with the aim of having a very good season this year. I know the demands of the team and the world, they are very high. This keeps me focused for the best. I think I came back healthy after the serious injury. We managed to win the title after four years. We were always united and we believed it until the end and we made it. If we take the football part purely, we had the best team and the best players and with our value we won the championship”.
For the goals: “The first and most important goal is to get a qualification to secure the group in the Conference League. This relieves us of stress. But we will look far, for us the primary goal is the Champions League. We have three weeks for the first goal and we will make it. APOEL is a huge team, the most successful in Cyprus. Our goal is the Champions League groups, the championship and the cup”.
For Gayego and Sa Pinto: “We have been with the coach for 10 days. There is regularly a clear plan. We are focused. Every coach is different, he has his own plan. We have the right coach and we will succeed.
Sa Pinto is a special character, he finished the season successfully by winning the championship. He had an impeccable relationship with the footballers. He was correct. In terms of football, every coach has his own philosophy”.
On his father, Giorgos Donis: “There are teasing about my father. My father achieved a lot, he entered the Champions League groups twice. He has had a successful career at APOEL, this is what I want to do as a footballer. We talk with dad… He is the first one who convinced me to come to APOEL. We have frequent communication as a family, with my father and my brother”.
On Cypriot football: “I think it has risen a lot in recent years. Several groups are distinguished in Europe. We saw AEK, Aris… now it's our turn. Teams should support Cypriot footballers more”.
On the new season regarding him: “The world will see a completely different Donis this year. I will help the team even more, Percy the world played a catalytic role for us to win the championship. Let him be by our side again this year and we will achieve many things”.
