KAS – ASDYK condemns the incidents in Tsireio and demands responsibility and crackdown measures – “Such behaviors tarnish sports”

The Bureau of the Police Corps Branch of the Independent Union of Civil Servants of Cyprus (KAS-ASDYK), with a statement he issued on Monday condemns the shameful incidents that took place by hooligan groups, before the start of the match between the teams Apollo – AEL at the Tsirio stadium, which resulted in the cancellation of the match for security reasons, as announced by the Police”.
Furthermore, after stating that “ such behavior, allegedly by fans, tarnishes sports”, the Police Department expresses its strong concern for the unacceptable incidents and sounds the alarm to all the authorities.

He also mentions that the issue of security and orderliness in the stadiums is not the sole responsibility of the Police and of each police officer, adding that in the smooth running of the matches, the sports associations and their administrations, the KOP and the referees' association are called to play an essential role.
He also states that he demands responsibility >, demands from the leadership of the Police to react and urgently and decisively put the issue in its proper dimension and from the Minister of Justice to take the initiative to introduce measures to combat these unacceptable phenomena.
