A proposal for a law whereby the unused tax-free amount of one spouse will be transferred and added to the tax-free income of the other spouse is filed by the DISY, as stated on Thursday by the President of the party Annita Dimitriou , explaining that this is a targeted law proposal with the aim of tax relief for middle income earners, who need it most in the current socio-economic conditions.
Based on a press release of DISY, the President of the party, said that the law proposal is open to be co-signed by all political forces and of course all the MPs of the Parliamentary Finance Committee.
Ms. Dimitriou he further explained that the legislative proposal specifically targets middle-income families where one spouse is below the tax-free amount and essentially one spouse's unallocated tax-free amount will be carried over and added to the other spouse's tax-free income.
“Our proposal is financially feasible and has a ceiling so that only middle-class households benefit from the measure,” he added.
Finally he expressed the belief that regulation is necessary, especially in the current conditions of precision and high interest rates, from which the middle class is disproportionately affected.
