“The decisions of the Christodoulidis Government on the management of refugee flows are not going to answer the challenges posed by their increase”, he says in a statement the AKEL.
As the party claims, these decisions will, on the contrary, increase the problems.
Specifically, AKEL points out that:
– Pending asylum applications and appeals before the Court of International Protection will increase.
– An incentive will be given to those who want to abuse the system by submitting asylum applications to ensure their stay in Cyprus. ; The problems in the First Reception and Hospitality Centers will multiply.
– There will be an increase in illegal and undeclared work with consequences for the rights of all workers, Cypriots and foreigners.
“The first and most important action that should have been taken by the Christodoulidis Government is to assert the self-evident request for apportionment of refugee flows in all member states according to their population and capabilities, as was done in the case of Ukrainian refugees,” the announcement concludes.
