Doom prevails on the roads leading to Troodos, with too many citizens trying to go on a snow trip stuck in endless queues of cars.
According to the information of the Police earlier, drivers with saloon cars disobeyed the warnings of the authorities and tried to climb the mountains, as a result of which they remained in the middle of the route and blocked the road for the other vehicles.
The following video provided by politis.com.cy from the Karvouna-Troodos road, is highly representative of the chaotic situation that prevails.
Meanwhile, according to the Police, landslides of stones and rocks have occurred in various places on the roads Platron-Trooditissa and Prodromou-Trooditissa, just before 2.00 on Sunday afternoon. On both roads there are members of the Police who carry out actions for cleaning the road, for regulating the traffic and for providing assistance to the passing drivers. The passing drivers are called to be very careful, to drive their vehicles at a safe, low speed, to maintain safety distance from oncoming vehicles and give priority to other passing drivers where needed.
