More than 100 police officers will monitor Limassol in the afternoon in view of the protest, which will take place at 18:00 outside the headquarters on Anexartisias Street.
The protest, mainly against corruption, is carried out by 12 organized groups. The organizers of the event include people who are against 5G, the measures to deal with the pandemic, the vaccine and generally are critical of the coronavirus issue.
The Police has prepared an Action Plan to deal with any diversions. More than 100 police and three anti-riot groups will patrol areas of Limassol, which have been described as “dangerous”.
In his statements, the representative of the Limassol Police, Lefteris Kyriakou, stated that the information in relation to the event has been evaluated, as well as what took place in the previous protests in the city, “where damages and injuries were recorded”.
“The police do not intend to intervene if the event is peaceful and the relevant decrees are not violated. “But if it turns into a riot, then the Police will impose order”, said Mr. Kyriakou.
