Complaints from citizens continue to be recorded on the FixCyprus application at an intensive pace, since in the approximately two years that the service of the Department of Public Works has been in operation, there have been more than seven thousand reports, of which however , only 25% have been completed, that is, one in four problems were solved by local authorities.
As the mayoral candidates count down to the municipal elections in June, the thousands of problems that exist in the road network undoubtedly pose a special challenge for them to proceed with their immediate solution, so as to win the vote of confidence from their citizens. , who are plagued with multiple problems on the roads.
Indicatively, as of Tuesday, a total of 7,106 reports have been registered on the FicCyprus service, of which 1,783 have been completed, while planned another 3,907 cases. At the same time, the remaining 116 reports are being managed, to be assigned or scheduled for repair by local authorities.
Of particular interest, however, is the comparison between the five provinces for their immediacy in solving the complaints that arrive before them, as Nicosia is the only province that has a greater number of problems solved than those that are pending. More specifically, in the capital, a total of 1,122 reports have been completed, while another 1,035 cases where the competent authority has been notified are pending, another 111 reports for which a fix is planned. Of course, a large number, which is 641 reports, were dismissed by the relevant authorities as they did not appear to be a problem on the road network.
As for the rest of the provinces, in Limassol, 242 reports have been fixed in the last two years, while 1,166 reports are pending and 179 cases were planned. Also, a total of 370 requests were rejected for various reasons. In Larnaca, where the number of complaints is lower, local authorities completed 325 problems brought before them, while 547 cases were notified to the authority. Also, 158 cases that reached them have been rejected. For Paphos, so far only 45 cases have been implemented, while the competent authority has been notified of 624 problematic points. In addition, as far as the free province of Famagusta is concerned, 49 reports have been corrected, while another 56 requests that have been notified to the competent authority are pending and also in another 56 cases their correction is scheduled.
Due to the large volume of requests received by the capital, the Municipality of Nicosia, according to the statistics, has the highest performance for its immediate response, as in the performance index that has a scale of values from 0 to 5, it occupies 4.79 . Second with the best performance is the Department of Public Works of Nicosia as well, which has an index of 3.78, followed by the Municipalities of Strovolos, Latsia and Aradippou.

Additionally, another 387 complaints related to defaced road signs and another 289 reports of reduced lighting in certain parts of the road network. It is also noted that 595 more requests have been recorded for various other issues that concerned drivers on the road network and were examined by local authorities.
