These are the dates of Civil Service written exams

The Ministry of Education has announced the dates for the conduct of the written exams to fill public service admission positions, which may be published in the year 2024.

The dates:

(a)  on Saturday 23.09.2023, for positions whose initial scale does not exceed Scale A7 of the government payroll, for which a high school diploma or a three-year post-secondary degree is required as a basic qualification, and,

(b)  on Saturday 14.10.2023, regarding positions whose initial scale does not exceed Scale A8 of the government payroll, for which a university degree or an equivalent qualification is required as a basic qualification.

The written examination, in both cases, will be an aptitude/skills test, consisting of the following three subjects:

(i) Numerical Ability,

(ii) deductive ability, and

(iii) verbal ability.

Whoever obtains a total score of at least 50% on average and in each of the subjects at least 40% will be considered successful. The scores of successful candidates will be subject to further statistical processing and the final score given by the Examinations Service will be to three decimal places.

It is noted that success in the above Written Examination is a necessary condition for submitting to the Public Service Commission an application for appointment, to any of the positions included in the Lists of Admission Positions in the public service and falling under:

– in Appendix I (for public service entry positions whose initial scale does not exceed Cl. A7 of the Government payroll, for which a high school diploma or a three-year post-secondary degree is required as a basic qualification), and

– in Appendix II (for public service entry positions whose initial scale does not exceed Cl. A8 of the Government payroll, for which a university degree or an equivalent qualification is required as a basic qualification) in case these are announced in 2023.

It is noted that the relevant lists of positions are expected to be approved by the House of Representatives and published in the Official Gazette of the Republic. Relevant updates and posting of the Lists will follow both on the website of the Commission and on the websites of the Examinations Service and the Department of Public Administration and Personnel.

Those interested will be able to submit an application for participation in the exams, through the website of the Examination Service  http://epd.moec.gov.cy, from 04.05.2023 until 25.05.2023.  The participation fee was set at fifty (€50) euros for each examination.

It is clarified that  candidates who will complete their studies (high school diploma  or diploma of a three-year post-high school course,  for Appendix I,  and university diploma or equivalent qualification, for Appendix II) can also submit an application to participate in the exams, after the date of submission of their application for participation in said examinations. It is noted that,   candidates should have completed the above studies as well as all other requirements  of  position they are interested in,  when it is published within 2024 and until the deadline for submitting applications.

More information about the exams will be announced in the Official Gazette of the Republic and on the websites of the Examinations Service of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, Committee of the Public Service and the Department of Public Administration and Personnel.
