Two people, aged 42 and 45, were sentenced to six and four years in prison today by the Limassol Criminal Court for the offense of possession of a quantity of cocaine weighing 300 grams.
The two were arrested in March 2018 by members of the Drug Enforcement Service, after locating the amount of drugs on the side of the road in an area of Limassol.
Specifically, the drugs were located on March 20, 2018 and the scene was put under discreet surveillance by YKAN members, when around 20:15 a car driven by the 42-year-old, with a 45-year-old co-driver, approached the scene.
The 45-year-old was arrested when he got out of the car and was preparing to receive the package, while the 42-year-old driver started his car quickly and after beating two members of YKAN, he fled. He was finally arrested on March 23, 2018.
The two police officers were taken to the Limassol General Hospital, where they were found to have abrasions and bruises on various parts of their bodies.
The Criminal Court found the 42-year-old and the 45-year-old guilty and today sentenced them to six and four years in prison, respectively.
