The visit of David Cameron's visit comes a day after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak appealed to Israel for “calmness”, stressing that an escalation would be “in no one's interest”.
Analena Berbock for her part yesterday, Tuesday, spoke in favor of new European Union sanctions on Iranian drones.
Assuring Israel of “Germany's full solidarity” she also said she wanted to to discuss with its leaders ways to “prevent further escalation”.
Speaking to reporters in Israel today, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said it was clear that Israel had made the decision to respond to Iran's attack. with drones and missiles and expressed the hope that this would be carried out in a way that would minimize escalation.
“It is clear that the Israelis are making a decision to act,” Cameron said. “We hope they do it in a way that does the least possible to escalate this.”
Britain wants to see coordinated sanctions against Iran, he added.
“It has to be given a clear unmistakable message from the G7” (the Group of Seven most developed industrialized countries), he said.
