He may not have become a king yet, but from an early age he has been constantly working for the monarchy. The heir to the British throne, Prince Charles has been described as a “workaholic” by his wife Camilla, while it is known to Britons that he is in his office until late at night. Prince Harry once joked that his father would wake up with a piece of paper stuck to his face!

A recent palace financial update revealed that Charles is a prolific letter writer, with more than 2,400 letters a year – nearly seven letters a day. Most of them are addressed to citizens.

The Duke of Cornwall, according to APE-MPE, reportedly receives tens of thousands of letters a year. He reads a large number personally sent to him by citizens of the United Kingdom.

A royal source told People it's “touching” how letters from citizens catch the prince's eye because of “the subject matter” or the “questions they raise”. Many are surprised to find on their doormat a personal letter or reply from the crown prince.

At the same time, some of the letters are because of his royal duties such as the thank you letter to the president of Rwanda, the which hosted the royal couple early last month.
