Undoubtedly, he said, the establishment and operation of the school in 1974, immediately after the bleak days of that black summer, was an important event for the wider region, since it marked a new era for the education and training of the new generation of the city and of the province of Pafos.

“Through the assistance of the Monastery of Agios Neophytos, which embraced the student and educational community from the beginning, the school, which initially functioned as a Gymnasium, became a spiritual center and hive of knowledge, honoring and justifying the founders of the foundation and the benefactors of”.

The Minister said that the contribution of the respective directorate, teachers and other staff, who framed and embellished the operation and evolution of the school from the beginning until today, proved to be decisive in this direction .

“Their own dedication and their own zeal are reflected in their rich educational work, as well as in the formation and development of the personality of the children who attended the school over time. It is no coincidence that the school, since its establishment, has been associated with great successes of its students on an intellectual, social, cultural and sporting level, while its graduates stand out, both for their professional careers and as active and active citizens” he mentioned.

He pointed out the decisive contribution of the school to the preservation of national consciousness and identity, saying that the school, with its opening in the period immediately after the Turkish invasion, identified its path with the struggle for the liberation and reunification of our homeland and was a nucleus of high mentality, instilling in the student community the desire to return to our ancestral values.

“As the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, fifty years after the Turkish invasion and with the continued illegal occupation, we vigorously continue the cultivation of “I do not forget, I fight, I claim”, as our debt to the new generation, the future of this place. We must, together with our teachers, give our students all the resources that will help them develop into citizens capable of contributing to the progress, prosperity and liberation of our country” he emphasized.

In this direction, he said, “the work that you, the management and the educational staff of the Lyceum of Agios Neophytos Paphos are doing, but also the achievements of you, its students, are considered particularly important. I therefore extend my warmest congratulations to all and I assure you that the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth will continue to be at your side, ready to discuss your suggestions, so that your school continues to be recognized as a important educational institution, as a nursery of knowledge and values.
