<p class=Neither had they applied, nor were they checked – These are 2 businesses in Nicosia and Larnaca

Two illegal commercial photovoltaic systems, with a power of more than 20kw, have been detected by the EAC following complaints, however, these seem to be only the tip of the iceberg, with the Authority even enlisting google maps to locate the illegals.

In particular, according to what a competent EAC source reported to the Brief, the Authority – after complaints – identified two commercial properties that have installed and operated photovoltaic systems and while they neither had the necessary permits nor had they been inspected by the EAC.

These are two businesses, one in Nicosia and one in Larnaca.

According to what the same source mentioned, this is a particularly serious issue, since such illegality poses risks even for the safety of owners and workers, since these systems were not audited by the EAC.

In fact, for the two cases identified, heavy penalties are expected both for the owners and for the technicians who installed the systems.

The same source, when asked about the reasons why someone does not apply for the installation of a photovoltaic system and illegally, explained that in this way the owners of the commercial systems save costs since they are not obliged to install ripple control and on the other hand they are not rejected of RES energy, as is the case with other commercial ones.

Involves serious risks

As explained to us, the illegal installation of photovoltaic systems poses serious risks to the owners but also for the workers themselves, since the necessary control by the EAC is not preceded, while at the same time problems are also caused in the network, since the Administrator will have a failure in his calculations for energy production.

Headache and photovoltaic houses

The two cases identified are not the only ones, since according to our information there are complaints, even for photovoltaic home systems.

But in these cases it is found that the owners of the houses are not illegal in the beginning, since they submit the necessary applications and are checked by the EAC, however, later they arbitrarily add more frames in order to increase production. But something that is illegal and carries the same risks as in the cases of commercial real estate.

As it was conveyed to us, even 1kw of additional production to be added can create major problems in the grid, considering that at the given moment in Cyprus, there are 52,500 photovoltaic systems in homes with a power of up to 10kw and 758 commercial systems, with a power of more than 10kw.

The EAC also enlists google earth

< p>Of course, as conveyed by the EAC, checking especially the ceilings of buildings and homes is not something easy, since the EAC cannot simply enter businesses and homes for inspection.

A thought so that those who commit illegalities are quickly identified, a practice that is also followed in urban planning illegalities.

Especially, the EAC is thinking about how to use Google Earth maps, as through this platform they can locate the photovoltaic systems.
